Building Better Bridges
In November 2021, FAIL together with Alchemy Film & Arts (Hawick, Scotland) and Folkestone Fringe (Folkestone, England) launched the project Bridgit – Building Better Bridges as part of Cultural Bridge, a programme to promote exchanges between cultural institutions and initiatives from the UK and Germany (pilot phase 2021/22).
Bridgit explored the boundaries in which we operate and the challenges and opportunities of participatory artistic practice and working with local communities. To do this we used play, workshops and conversations to develop a better understanding of the different geographical and cultural contexts of Hawick, Folkestone and Leipzig, sharing our failures and successes – both at weekly virtual gatherings (Nov 2021–March 2022) and at meetings in Folkestone and Leipzig (April & May 2022).
Cultural Bridge is funded by the British Council, Fonds Soziokultur, Arts Council England, Arts Council Northern Ireland, Wales Arts International, Creative Scotland and the Goethe Institut.
